Competitors ready to battle for a spot on Team Australia

The 2024 Motorsport Australia MOZA Racing FIA Motorsport Games Esports Qualifier will take place this Friday with 24 drivers ready to battle it out at Fortress Melbourne.

Friday’s decider will see the top Esports drivers from around the country competing for the chance to represent Australia at the upcoming 2024 FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia, Spain.

At the close of qualifying, two drivers will have secured their seats for the Games – one from each of the iRacing and Assetto Corsa Competizione platforms’ twelve competitors.

Selected by a committee based on experience, fans will recognise 2022 FIA Motorsport Games finalist and GT3 National Esports Cup winner Philippa Boquida, as well as 2023 Queensland Esports State Champion Kody Deith, and 2023 F4 National Esports Cup winner Damon Woods.

The event will commence with the Esports GT Round 1 and last chance qualifier, followed by Esports F4 Round 1 and its respective last chance qualifier.

Round 1 will divide the 12 drivers for each category into two groups of six, with each group participating in a 15-minute qualifying session that will rank drivers by their fastest lap time.

At the conclusion of Round 1, the two fastest drivers from each group will advance directly to the final and the sixth fastest will be eliminated – the remaining three drivers will advance to the last chance qualifier.

The six drivers competing in the last chance qualifier will participate in an additional 15-minute qualifying session to rank drivers by their fastest lap time – with the two fastest drivers progressing to the finals and the remaining eliminated.

Finals will be held from 7pm onwards, with Esports F4 kicking off the action followed by GT.

The drivers who progress to finals will participate in a 30-minute race to determine the winner for their respective category, with driver who wins locking in their spot in Spain.
