New Esports competition opens in Queensland

A new Esports competition will hit Queensland next month, giving a dozen of the most talented drivers from within the state a chance to go up against each other for cash prizes.

Open solely to Queenslanders, the Motorsport Australia Queensland Esports State Championship will see 12 drivers battle it out during a special live final at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Run in conjunction with QUT, Next Level Racing and the Queensland Government, the event will be broken up into two components, with pre-qualifying to take place over the last week of July before the final is held on 12 August.

Anyone residing in Queensland can enter the event's pre-qualifying stage, with interested participants simply needing to set a hot lap via the iRacing platform.

The top eight fastest drivers will then automatically earn a spot in August’s final, while the remaining four spots will be wildcard entries, all of which will be selected by both QUT and Next Level Racing.

Those selected to take part in the final will require a Motorsport Australia Esports Licence in order to be eligible.

Details around August’s final will be released in the coming weeks, however there will be a prize pool of more than $2000 on offer, while the live event will be free to attend and a live stream available to those unable to make it.

The Motorsport Australia Queensland Esports State Championship Pre-Qualification takes place on 24-30 July via iRacing before the final is held on Saturday 12 August.
